Statement
"To promote the growth and development of the environmental industry
of Newfoundland and Labrador."
Importance of NEIA
NEIA is a leading Canadian Environmental Industry Association and
has been identified as the strongest association in Atlantic Canada
providing excellent services and strong representation for its members.
NEIA's goal is to positively impact its members businesses. NEIA
keeps its members informed of industry happenings and issues and
hosts regular events including:
- An annual trade show and conference
- Seminars, workshops, luncheons and
member socials
Networking Communications &
Awareness
NEIA communicates regularly with its members through bi-weekly notices,
a quarterly newsletter and its website. All
NEIA members and their services and products are listed in the neia
website which receives 15,000 hits per month. NEIA
also promotes member services and products locally and internationally
with a hard copy glossy directory and through participation in conferences
and local and international trade shows.
Advocacy
Using input from working groups of member companies, NEIA represents
the interests of environmental firms through regular communication
with governments, other industry groups and the media. NEIA
speaks on all issues key to members including: environmental legislation,
enforcement, permitting, waste management, wastewater, air emissions,
remediation, business development, and trade & export market
development.
Programs and Subsidies
NEIA maintains a knowledge of government programs and facilitates
member access to business development and research and development
funding from government agencies. NEIA offers reduced rates to members
for all courses, seminars, luncheons and advertising opportunities.
NEIA members also have access to personal and commercial insurance
programs.
Training
NEIA offers and facilitates training courses based on member demand.
Courses include risk based corrective action, hazardous site project
management and remediation technology and practices.

Core Functions
NEIA Promotes the Growth and Development of the Environmental Industry
in Newfoundland and Labrador by:
- Advocacy: NEIA advocates the interests
of member firms on all issues relevant to building the industry.
- Unified Voice: Providing a common
voice for the environmental industry to government bodies, research
and educational institutions, and private enterprise;
- Policy Development: Encouraging
responsible, progressive policies and regulations (environmental
and industrial) that strengthen the environment industry;
- Networking: Promoting interaction
between members, customers and other organizations to exchange
information and develop business opportunities;
- Industry Standards: Supporting the
development of industry wide product and service standards;
- Promotion: Increasing public awareness
and understanding of the environment industry; and
- Skills Development: Ensuring the
availability of education and training for members in technical
and business areas.
NEIA Member Services
NEIA provides a strong unified voice for communication and cooperation
with all private sector, government and non-profit entities involved
in the Newfoundland & Labrador Environmental Industry. Membership
in NEIA offers:
- timely information on business,
marketing, trade and export opportunities;
- support funding for approved projects;
promotion and referral of member services at conferences, trade
shows and conventions;
- regular seminars, workshops and
luncheons with keynote speakers;
- strong and timely industry position
statements on environmental issues;
- established relationships with the
educational community to ensure skilled industry personnel;
- Internet services including free
member profiles on the NEIA web site, Internet advice, information
and opportunity search services;
