North Atlantic Refining, Newfoundland's only oil refinery, employs more than 550 people and contributes over $140 million annually to the provincial economy. In addition, North Atlantic's marketing division employs nearly 150 people who sell our high quality products. Since acquiring the facility in 1994, North Atlantic has invested more than $550 million in improvements and upgrades to their facility. North Atlantic continues to show its commitment to the environment through regular testing and monitoring of emissions. Recent tests performed by expert environmental consultants have revealed that refinery emissions are well below harmful levels and concentrations. The refinery has various environmental monitoring stations in the area and performs terrestrial effect monitoring on a regular basis.
