Environmental related research at Memorial University takes place in a wide range of disciplines within the university's 16 different areas of study. Research at the Science Faculty and Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science pertains to the physical environment, including mineral exploration and development, marine pollution and mitigation, and marine biology. The Faculties of Medicine and Arts have been involved in researching the social and health aspects of environmental factors. A research chair has been created in Ocean Environmental Risk Engineering. Memorial's Sir Wilfred Grenfell College houses the Forest Centre - a keystone in the sustainable management of our forestry. In terms of training, Memorial offers various programs that respond to the emerging local and international environmental industry.
