Environmental Protection officer's with the Department of Government Services give advice to the public and their government agencies on how to enforce environment legislation. The department also deals with the prevention, abatement, elimination and control of environmental pollution.

Officers inspect the following: hydrocarbon spills, while also ensuring remediation; petroleum storage facilities; waste disposal sites; Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) storage sites; farms and asphalt plants.

Offices are located in St. John's, HR. Grace, Clarenville, Gander, Grand Falls-Winsor, Corner Brook and Goose Bay.
