Environmental protection officers within the Department of Government Services give advice to the public and their government agencies on how to enforce environment legislation. The department also deals with the prevention, abatement, elimination and control of environmental pollution.

Officers inspect and ensure any necessary remediation of the following: hydrocarbon spills, petroleum storage facilities, waste disposal sites, Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) storage sites, farms and asphalt plants.

Offices are located in St. John's, Harbour Grace, Clarenville, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Corner Brook and Goose Bay.
