Launch of Province’s First Online Website for Jobseekers and Employers

Later this week the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment will be launching the Province's first online job matching website for jobseekers and employers at  www.JobsinNL.ca. This exciting new resource has many features to assist employers with finding and hiring workers, including the opportunity to post free job advertisements for positions in Newfoundland and Labrador.   Job seekers will also benefit from the many available features of this new site. For example, they will be able to search for job openings throughout the province and post their resumes to directly apply for positions they are interested in.

In preparation for the official launch www.JobsinNL.ca, the Department of Human Resources, Labour and Employment has been making contact with employers across the province to provide them with the opportunity to pre-register on the site.  To date, the response from employers has been overwhelmingly positive. Already there are over 2400 registrants on www.JobsinNL.ca.    These results clearly indicate that this new jobsite will be a valuable new resource to complement ongoing initiatives to develop responsive human resource programs and services that better link jobseekers and with local employers in Newfoundland and Labrador.

As you may be aware, the provincial Government has assumed responsibility for delivering programs and services under the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Labour Market Development Agreement (LMDA) as of November 2, 2009.  In negotiating this agreement, the Province also assumed responsibility for maintaining the national job bank service for Newfoundland and Labrador. This means that  www.JobsinNL.ca will now be the provincial and national site for jobseekers who are looking for employment opportunities in Newfoundland and Labrador.
