To help Newfoundland and Labrador companies sell into international markets, NEIA facilitates member participation in international trade shows and trade missions. Members who participate with NEIA in these events will have the benefit of business-to-business matchmaking services, on-site logistical assistance (e.g., meeting facilitation, booth staffing, ground transportation), use of NEIA booth space and assistance with leads follow-up.
NEIA does not participate in trade missions unless there is a high probability of a good return on investment – its own investment and that of participating members. The high cost of travel and accommodation means that NEIA has to be relatively certain its members will derive sales leads and make strong connections. Over the past year, it has focused on a few key events, including the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, WEFTEC in Dallas, the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association Conference and Exhibition in Trinidad and Tobago (in conjunction with the Trinidad and Tobago Trade Mission), and the International Workboat Show in New Orleans (in conjunction with the Louisiana Trade Mission).
NEIA recognizes the value of partnering with other export-oriented organizations, where doing so allows it to take advantage of larger intelligence networks and “critical mass”. Through groups like Team Atlantic Environment (TAE), it has established strong relationships with other Atlantic Canadian organizations committed to promoting the region’s environmental expertise in export markets. By participating in TAE trade missions, NEIA members benefit from the higher profile of a larger trade delegation, as well as the opportunities to network with other Atlantic Canadian environmental businesses.
